Global Retail Wearable Experience App

Samsung Electronics

An integrated wearable experience app designed to let you intuitively understand the value of Galaxy ecosystem by actually experiencing the Watch, Buds, and Ring features

SITUATION

Consumers visiting retail stores found it difficult to fully experience wearable products like the Galaxy Watch, Buds, and Ring. Wearable products require pairing with smartphones to experience core AI features like health monitoring, translation, notifications, and app integration. However, limited connectivity and setup options in retail stores prevented the true value from being conveyed. As online shopping increased, interactive experiences became crucial even offline, and for wearables, these experiences significantly influenced purchase decisions. Furthermore, while Galaxy's diverse wearable products like the Watch, Buds, and Ring each possess distinct advantages, the lack of a platform to introduce them consistently and offer an integrated experience made it difficult for consumers to understand the entire wearable ecosystem. Consequently, a dedicated platform was needed in the global retail environment to enable consumers to intuitively grasp the key features of wearable products and easily pair them with smartphones for hands-on experience.

SOLUTION

We established a consistent UX strategy tailored to the characteristics and intended uses of various Galaxy Wearable products like Watch, Buds, and Ring, and implemented it as an integrated experience solution that customers could try directly in stores. By actually linking Galaxy smartphones with Wearable products, we provided core AI features like health monitoring, translation, notifications, and app integration through an interactive experience. This design allowed consumers to intuitively understand the connectivity and technological prowess of the Galaxy Ecosystem.

The Wearable Experience App was built around live device connection demonstrations. It implemented communication between the WearOS-based Watch app and the mobile app, delivering a genuine device-linking experience rather than a simple UI simulation. Furthermore, by applying an external JSON-based content management system, we established a flexible operational structure enabling rapid updates to features and device information without requiring app redistribution.

RESULTS

We built an integrated wearable experience platform that guides consumers visiting retail stores beyond simply ‘viewing’ products to actually ‘experiencing’ their functions. This increased customer dwell time and engagement, naturally expanding positive perceptions of Galaxy Wearables and anticipation for new products. Applied across key wearable products like Watch, Buds, and Ring, the platform enabled consumers to easily understand the synergistic benefits of device interconnectivity. As a result, product awareness and interest significantly improved. By consolidating the previously dispersed model-specific experiential content production methods, development and design resources were also substantially reduced. Increased experience rates with wearable product features and improved understanding of usage positively influenced purchase decisions, laying the foundation for enhanced competitiveness in the wearable market.
